Steps in Tutorial:

  • Aeropress

    You'll need these: Aeropress, Able Filter or Aeropress Paper Filter, Grinder, Gram Scale, Timer

    Step 1

    Grind 15 grams of coffee on the fine drip setting. (Baratza setting 10-12)

    Step 2

    Slide the plunger slightly into the Aeropress base so the black rubber part of the plunger is just at the number 4 on the base.

    Step 3

    Turn the whole press upside down so that the top of the plunger is on the counter top.

    Pour in the ground coffee.

    Place the Aeropress with ground coffee onto the scale. Tare the scale.

    Pour 30 grams of filtered water or spring water, just off the boil, onto the ground coffee. Immerse the grounds for proper saturation, but do not stir. The goal is to saturate the grounds not to stir the brewing coffee.

    Step 7

    Let this bloom for 30 seconds.

    Add water until the scale reaches 190 grams.

    Let this steep for one minute.

    Add water until the scale reaches 200 grams.

    Stir vigorously 10 times.

    Step 12

    Screw the Able Filter or paper filter and filter housing onto the Aeropress.

    Flip the Aeropress and place it onto your cup.

    Press the plunger down. Stop when you hear hissing. Enjoy.
