When the first batch of Chuito poured out of the roaster smelling like freshly baked fudge brownies, we knew this Guatemalan micro lot would have standout flavor! When cupped it is very smooth with a nice body, and tastes like a high quality chocolate bare with fruity raspberry notes and a lime zest acidity. These flavors meld seamlessly together, with the lime notes brightening and bringing out the other flavors. The uniquely balanced body and acidity make this an especially versatile coffee and we recommend brewing Chuito as pour over, cold brew, single origin espresso, or automatic drip.

Golden Raspberry, Chocolate, Lime Zest
Another great offering from Bella Vista’s Luis Pedro Zelaya, he purchased this former “pig farm” that also grew coffee back in 2009. Since Luis Pedro relies on natural methods with minimal fertilizer use, the farm’s coffee trees were wiped out for a few years when la Royal, the “coffee rust disease” devistated Guatemala’s coffee crops. Despite this setback, in the following years Chuito bounced back strong, and has one of the most consistently high scoring Antiguan coffee of 2023. True North is proud to be one of the few roasters in North America offering this elusive coffee.
